Internship:
The video really says it all. I began my internship the summer before my junior year and completed my required seventy hours that summer. However, I loved my time at the museum so much, I have chosen to continue my internship and still help my mentor on a weekly basis.
Interning at The Natural History Museum of Utah has been an incredible experience. I gained new skills and had access to knowledge that many people do not. I learned a lot about paleontology and the process of collecting fossils and then storing and preserving them. It also gave me an opportunity to work in a professional setting with a mentor. I had to be responsible for myself and be reliable in the work I was doing. I gained a close relationship with my mentor and other people at the museum. Doing an internship at the natural history museum has been such an incredible experience and I'm so happy i was given this opportunity. |
Job Exploration:
I have had an interest in science communication or technical sales because I enjoy science and am also skilled at writing and communicating. I can communicate well with scientists and understand the technical lingo and can easily translate to make sense for people who do not understand the technical information. One of the robotics mentors, who works in technical sales, caught word of this and was gracious enough to give me a private tour of his lab, tell me about what he does, and let me ask questions. It was very interesting and gave me a better look at something I may be doing with my life. |
